Canada's future: More regulation of speech...
In her letter last year explaining that her governmental body held no jurisdiction to stand in judgment of conservative polemicist Mark Steyn, she went on to judge him and “condemn” him and reasoned, “It is often said that with rights come responsibilities...” There she was in the news again this month, calling for a national mandatory regulatory organization for publications (both online and in print) to police violations of that responsibility she talks about.

The groaning but well-oiled rhetoric had been assembled, which allowed someone like CRTC chair Konrad Von Finckenstein (note to U.S. and international readers: yes, a real person, and not a name cooked up by a third-rate sketch comedy troupe) to tell a national newspaper that "we must respect the principles of openness and individual choice that govern the Internet, while maintaining access to, and for, Canadian stories, opinions and ideas."
...at greater taxpayer expense...
This is what the arts in Canada have come to; these are the sorts of things that concern our artists. Not life and love and the freedom of the human soul, the usual business of art, but licences and regulations and taxes.
...because we have to "create space that allows us to tell Canadian stories".
So how about telling this one?
