Pronoun Trouble

Programming note: Mark will be on the radio immediately after today's Steyn Show with the Thursday replay of his Serenade Radio Song of the Week. That's at 9pm Greenwich Mean Time/4pm North American Eastern. You can listen from anywhere on the planet right here.

~Mark is still recuperating from his heart attacks and having to build up his strength to get back to full output. Having done three great shows with some of his most popular guests this week, he's spending the next few days furiously autographing untold numbers of his new book, The Prisoner of Windsor, which we've begun shipping out to readers. However, he will be here on Friday in audio only for another Clubland Q&A taking questions live around the planet at 3pm North American Eastern/8pm BST.

So we have something special to round out the week, which we think you'll enjoy. Today Jordan Peterson is a global phenomenon, a public intellectual in every corner of the earth. But, when Mark sat down with him just over six years ago to explore what Daffy Duck used to call "pronoun trouble", Professor Peterson was just a clinical psychologist at the University of Toronto who happened to have attracted the wrong enemies - the transtotalitarians he had fallen afoul of and whom they had determined to destroy. What befell Jordan Peterson has befallen many others since, but, in defiance of the general rule, he has survived and prospered.

Mark provides a new intro and outro for this full-length interview from the dawn of Peterson's celebrity. In the body of the show, the two men discuss the various aspects of what's going on, and work their way round to the very biggest question. Oh, and stay tuned to the very end for a telling example of someone who didn't "get" Peterson: A show about Peterson being threatened with the destruction of his entire career led to Steyn facing the destruction of his entire career.

~If you enjoy these Steyn specials, we'll be doing them live on the Mark Steyn Cruise with many of your favourite guests.

~As we mentioned above, Mark's new book The Prisoner of Windsor is a few days from publication. It's available in hardback and digital editions. Scroll down for details of Kindle versions in your country.

~We thank those of you eager to support Steyn in taking the UK state censor Ofcom to the King's Bench Division of the English High Court. Aside from pre-ordering his new book, there are many other ways to support this case - by, for example:

a) buying a loved one a Steyn Club gift membership;

b) treating a chum to a SteynOnline gift certificate; or

c) booking your beloved a stateroom on this summer's Mark Steyn Cruise.

GB News will not be appealing, so, save for the support of friends of free speech around the world, Mark will be fighting this legal battle alone.

~Among the benefits of Mark Steyn Club membership is that you can enjoy The Mark Steyn Show in any medium you desire: video, audio or text. So, if you find Steyn and his guests more convivial in non-visual form, please log-in to our Audio and Transcript versions. To listen to the above show, simply click here.

This edition of The Mark Steyn Show is a special production of The Mark Steyn Club. We appreciate that membership is not for everyone, but, if you'd like to find out more about it, please see here. Another advantage of membership is access to our comments section. So, if you take issue with anything Mark or Professor Peterson said on the show, then feel free to comment away below.

~If you disdain Steyn's autograph or physical books entirely, The Prisoner of Windsor is also available for digital pre-order. For the Kindle edition around the world, please click below:
