Celeste Holm was born one hundred years ago on April 29th 1917, in New York City. She made her name on Broadway as Ado Annie in the original production of Oklahoma! in 1943. Four years later she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Gentleman's Agreement. So, for our Saturday picture date, we thought we'd reprise this audio edition of Mark at the Movies, in which Steyn talks to Celeste Holm about another memorable film of hers - High Society. Along the way, we enjoy a classic Cole Porter score - "True Love", "Well, Did You Evah!", "You're Sensational" - performed by Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Louis Armstrong - plus of course Miss Holm and Frank Sinatra dueting up a storm on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
There's a little bit of non-Porter in the podcast, too, as Miss Holm explains her first encounter with the celebrated composer by way of the song "You Go To My Head".
