In this episode of The Mark Steyn Show, Mark explores what Daffy Duck used to call "pronoun trouble". His guest is Jordan Peterson, a clinical psychologist at the University of Toronto whose entire career has been imperiled by his opposition to the new "non-binary" gender pronouns - such as "zhe". Transgender activists and other politically correct enforcers have determined to destroy him.
In this full-length interview, Steyn and Professor Peterson discuss the Orwellian perversion of language and the totalitarian impulses of social engineering. And Mark asks the big question: Is the jig up for western civilization? Click below to watch:
~There'll be more from The Mark Steyn Show this weekend - and don't miss Mark's brand new SteynPost on the long shadows of the Great War.

Thanks, Duane! I've been viewing a lot of Jordan Petersen's Bible videos over the past five months and occasional short videos, but I never heard him reference Derrida again. I picked up a little book on Derrida from the local library from a series in philosophy. I couldn't make any sense out of what he was saying. I asked an acquaintance who had a philosophy degree to explain his take on Derrida and he told me the guy was a waste of my time. That didn't reveal a great deal. I find Petersen pretty interesting except everything seems to be viewed through the lens of psychology, but I guess that is understandable.
Fran,
You're welcome. Your question caused me to look a bit and I then also found these:
Jordan Peterson on Foucault, Derrida & Nietzsche

Jordan Peterson on Jacques Derrida

Towards the end of this interview, Professor Petersen made a comment about how he was more concerned with a French philosopher, Jacques Derrida, being more harmful to our present society than Marx. If you have Prof. Petersen back for another interview, it's bugging me why he meant by this, so I was hoping he could expand on this comment.
Thanks!
Professor Peterson discusses Derrida in a number of his videos, there's a nice, short overview of Derrida's philosophical ancestry here:

I do recommend seeking out other Peterson videos, maybe you'll hit a bit on Derrida, maybe you won't, but you will be entertained and edified by any of them. Here's an example on Derrida from a much longer interview worth watching in its entirety:

Oops! Sorry, Duane. I replied to your message above!
Duane, thanks again! I checked those clips out and another one on same topic: Jordan Peterson on Foucault, Derrida & Nietzsche

FWIW, and in case you are interested, I have some thoughts on Peterson here:
