Dear Mark,
I'd want to say I'm shocked of what happened with that poor lady, but I'm not. We're living in a country, taught by radical leftists that mental illness, no matter what it is, should be accepted as a social norm and in many cases like transgenderism as a lifestyle choice. Even more disturbing is the first reaction the people on the train to seeing her getting killed is to either not do anything or to pull out their phones to record her dying. Normalizing this is going to cause us all to end up like her. What hope is there Mark?

In many communities a bartender is held partially responsible if he serves alcohol to a person drunk or who appears to be drunk.
I.E. Bar Tender serves alcohol to person who is drunk. Drunk person drives and kills someone. Bartender is held as an accessory to the homicide.
Is it that much of a stretch or a constitutional crisis to suggest judges be held to the same level of responsibility as a bartender?

The appointment of a devout Muslim, Shabana Mahmood, as UK Home Secretary is a cause for concern on multiple levels, not least her primary responsibility is meant to be to protect the citizenry.
She is on the record as stating Islam is the most important thing in her life.
No surprise that she is all in with freeing Palestine.
Would you want to share security intelligence with the UK while she remains in post?

Hi Mark, I happen to be in Diu, (until 1961, Portuguese) India and five and a half hours ahead of GMT.
Within 10 years of reaching India in 1498, the Portuguese had taken control of much of the spice trade, upsetting Venice, Dubrovnik, Egypt (Mamelukes), Gujarat and Calicut (Kerala) who combined to send out a huge fleet, which the Portuguese resoundingly defeated at Diu in 1509. This led to Western control of maritime trade, East, and West, for five centuries.
The West seems to rely on the US alone to maintain security of maritime trade and the US seems to have wanted it that way, but has it now lost its grip?

Mark, Since you have said that, starting next week, the Clubland Q&A will be done via fax machine, I went to Amazon to check out what's available these days. It's very confusing—they have "inkless" models, ink-jet, wireless laser, and countless "all-in-ones". There are plenty of "best for home" models, but none of them are marketed as "best for forest."
Do you have any guidance for us on this? Also, if we all order fax machines on Amazon this week, won't that be creating some kind of a traceable record? Would junk yards or thrift shops be a safer bet?

I saw the other day that the Right was in a tizzy over some comments that Sen. Tim Kaine made about the source of our societal rights. Apparently the good Senator scoffed at the idea that our rights come from God and not from government.
Is the Right drawing the wrong lesson here? Thanks to the New Deal, the Great Society, and decades of third-world importation, the average American probably fully agrees with Sen. Kaine. In their view, God didn't pass Medicare, guarantee their mortgages, or forgive their student loans.
Rather than criticize him, shouldn't the Right thank Sen. Kaine for the warning that the cultural sands have shifted?

Dear Mark: I am a long-time listener, 1st time contributor. (And huge all around fan:) Given the date, I thought this might be of interest: My memories of 24 years ago today:
September 10th 2001 was a Monday. I had worked all weekend on an urgent matter at the office and was off that day. I decided to spend the day by visiting my parents on Staten Island. It was a lovely late summer's day. The temperature a perfect low 80's and the sky was crystal clear. After a somewhat late lunch, I sat with my parents on their 2nd floor back terrace. We looked out in the distance over the entire borough of Staten Island, over to the NY skyline, seeing the Twin Towers gleaming in the warm sunlight. It was really quite a sight, in spite of the familiarity we all had with those buildings by that time. In the evening, I took the express bus back to the city. Upon entering lower Manhattan, the bus would take Church Street, heading north, passing the WTC on the left. The towers were a sight that NY'ers were accustomed to seeing and wouldn't necessarily take special notice of. However, that night a little boy, probably under 2, ran from his mother while walking by the buildings. On the Church Street side of the buildings there was a large sidewalk area and then a pedestrian street and then came Church Street. The boy was heading towards Church Street; but had to cross the pedestrian street first. Nevertheless, my bus driver stopped short when he saw the boy running. We bus riders were jerked backwards in our seats, waking us from our half slumber. We all looked at the running boy and the mother frantically running behind him. And then it would seem as if in unison, we all looked up, staring at the Twin Towers, now shaded in the early evening dusk and glowing from within from the many office lights. It felt as if the bus lingered there for an hour; it was probably no longer than a minute and a half.
And then we continued....
We continued onto to 9.11...

For over thirty years we told Ukraine that we have their backs and sent a steady stream of Navy Seabees over there to build barracks with closets to hold the blankets that Obama sent, meanwhile the Podestas, the Manaforts, the Clintons and the Bidens all made money out of the deal. No one in our crap government saw this coming?
