UPPESTDATE! If you missed today's edition of Mark's Clubland Q&A live around the planet, the action replay is available here.
UPPERDATE! We're live now, so let's have at it!
UPDATE! We'll be going live in about fifteen minutes, so do get ready to fire off your questions via the comment form below. See you at the top of the hour. And to listen simply click the livestream feed.
~Yes, it's me! Mark Steyn of that ilk - back off my deathbed for another hour of questions from Mark Steyn Club members around the planet. We start at 3pm North American Eastern - which, across the Atlantic, is back to its usual hour: 8pm in the British Isles and 9pm in western and central Europe.
As we now know from Elon Musk's decision to turn on the place-of-Tweet function, there are no Americans on the Internet, just larky South Asians and West Africans cosplaying at eaglepatriotminutemanspiritof76 and transfurriesforgaza. Despite its being invented by Al Gore, there appears to be no evidence any American has ever been on the Internet. We hope you'll want to make an exception for this pre-Thanksgiving edition of our Clubland Q&A, but, if not, we're happy to take any questions from Waziristani imams or Bengali sex-fiends willing to play along as Vermont lesbians or Maryland MS-13 members. For the moment you can listen to our show live from almost anywhere you chance to be on this turbulent earth. Starting next week, in compliance with Cruella von der Leyen and the European Commission, Clubland Q&A will be distributed exclusively by fax machine, purportedly headquartered in a barn in the White Mountains but actually run out of a customer-service call-centre in Rajasthan. So install yours today!
Membership of The Mark Steyn Club is required only if you wish to ask a question. We love to hear from brand new members, and especially appreciate those who are having such a grand time around these parts that they've signed up a chum for a Steyn Club Gift Membership. Among the additions to our ranks in recent days are newbies from around the planet - from Doncaster to the District of Columbia, Gaspé to Grass Valley, Reno to Rheineck. If you've joined this week either for a full year or a see-how-it-goes experimental quarter, do shoot me a head-scratcher for today's show.
But, if you're not interested in joining, no worries, as they say in Oz: We seek no unwilling members - and as always the show is free to listen to, so we hope you'll want to tune in. So see you back here at 3pm North American Eastern - which is, once again, 8pm in London and Dublin, 9pm in Paris and Berlin, 10pm in Kiev and Jerusalem; 11pm in Moscow and Riyadh; half-past-eleven in Teheran; 1.45am in Kathmandu; 4am in Singapore and Honkers (sorry about that); 7am in Sydney and Melbourne; 9am in Auckland, and an even more civilised hour for the kippers and kedgeree in His Majesty's Dominions eastward across the Pacific, where you're so far ahead Michael E Mann's probably lost his appeal by now...

The two Ukrainian teens we have come to know in our kid's school in Switzerland plan to stay, study here and become Swiss. I wonder how widespread that is. Some percentage of Ukrainian girls and young women who've been integrating in EU countries must be thinking that way. If so that would add an additional measure of dearth to the meager births in that wrecked country, while providing a temporary boost to destination country demographics. Their likelihood to produce 2.1 children each is another story...

Hello Mark,
The remarkable aspect of the immigration crackdowns and federal involvement in crime control in our cities is the large numbers of criminal perpetrators arrested. Had they been free to ply their illegal trade due to lack of police resources or an unwillingness to go after them?
English legal scholar William Blackstone stated "It is better that ten guilty men go free than that one innocent man be convicted." Maybe some validity in this.
However, the notion ignores the subsequent mayhem that the guilty will perpetrate on the citizenry.
Today's social justice types on the Left support letting the guilty go free, not to prevent the hypothetical conviction of an innocent man. Instead, they fully acknowledge the guilt, but release them as they imagine the guilty as victims of one or many facets of the system.
As you have said, common sense only prevails if we as a people have something in common. There is no middle ground with those that enthusiastically support the release of serial offenders and merely shrug when the same perpetrate violence and death on innocent citizens.

Once again the Republicans have done nothing to help Trumps term in office.
Is this on purpose or are they just plain dumb?
Does the GOP think this fun little game of cat and mouse is going to last forever?
We see that with each new generation of democrats they get more radicalized and power hungry.

Hi Mark,
I just finished sending a pointed email to one of the reporters in Gannett's Cincinnati Enquirer who tried to console readers by stating that less than 2% of people detained by ICE this year committed a violent crime. She also informed us of those who had criminal charges, nearly all of them were minor charges like traffic or drug offenses.
Thank goodness. What a relief. It's good to know I should not be concerned about nonviolent crime, like the theft of my automobile last month that was taken from my driveway in the dark of night and completely destroyed. Or my daughter, who is an administrator at a suburban grade school in Greater Cincinnati, should not be concerned about the large number of Uzbeki parents who drive to school to pick up their children but can't provide a driver's license that is required for identification.
I asked Madam reporter if in the future she would be so kind to list all the nonviolent crimes the ICE detainees have committed.

My question today involves another topic in your wheelhouse, namely, the horrors of fake climate change, Net Zero, the Green New Scam et al.
Your past work was prescient in setting out "Climate Change, the Facts;" it seems that with the new Trump administration and guys like Lee Zeldin, forbidden knowledge is now public.
Even that fraud Bill Gates is jumping ship, to wit:
"Although climate change will have serious consequences—particularly for people in the poorest countries—it will not lead to humanity's demise. People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future. " The hypocrisy is breathtaking!
Anyway, if you have time after going through the latest "migrant" atrocities like what happened in Italy the other day, you can share your thoughts vis a vis the Climate Catastrophe.

As you have been saying for many years, western civilization is sliding off a cliff. Everyone can see it now, except those who choose not to. It's increasingly obvious that, for whatever reasons—and there are many, we cannot vote our way out of this debacle. Do you think we get a Caesar who rises, or simply go quietly into that long Eurabian night?
Prayers for your good health.

Mark,
A glimmer of hope regarding the "wrong people being forced to do the right thing":
Rutger Bregman, one of those dime-a-dozen Dutch "intellectuals", gave a Reith Lecture where he claimed that Trump was "the most openly corrupt president in American history", and the BBC cut that part out, to which Bregman expressed surprise.
Does this mean that the BBC realises it can no longer get away with making up undercooked Grauniadofcom rubbish and passing it off as fact (and not just for making up stuff about the Donald, there's always Gaza), in light of Donald's legal action? Do its journothingies just have to take a bit more care?

Dear Mark,
It was on Nov. 25, nearly eight and 1/2 Centuries ago the Knights Templar fought a battle against Saladin's forces in what is now southern Israel, and although it was technically a route, a decade later many of the knights who succeeded during that battle were killed or captured a decade later at the Battle of Hattin in 1187, in which a fragment of the True Cross was captured, and never a Western eye would see it again.
Which takes me to my question: Speaking of one minor victory in an arid plain of defeat, Zelenskyy and von der Leyen and the rest of the "Roman Senate" in Europe who believed they could defeat Emperor Putin with a thousand tiny cuts, are now faced with a dilemma; kick the can down the road and watch Putin gobble up Kiev that rhymes with Steve, or fold up their war tents, swallow their losses and slink home without a slick way to launder trillions of squandered taxes on a gamble by Victoria Nuland that cost Ukraine her best and brightest for decades to come?
Your thoughts. Best of health and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Mark,
First time/long time. Apologies for the impertinent question, but should your doctors' attempts to stabilize you eventually lead to you being "too stable" on a permanent basis have you given any thought to creating an A.I. Mark Steyn? Given that Mann vs Steyn has several decades yet to run, it would be comforting to know that a futuristic Mark hologram w/chatbot attached could represent the estate and continue to shower Dr. Mann with the insults and barbs he so richly deserves. Best Wishes,
R. G.
P.S. Would it not be prudent for the Estate of Mark Steyn to maintain the Steyn Club website into the future? The continuing access to the vast content would be worth the price of admission.

Mr. Steyn, as a commentator on popular entertainment, I have a question for you? What is your view on the ever increasing intrusion of AI into the Human creative sphere? Right now we have top hit songs in circulation "performed" by AI generated voices. Will there be any room for the Homo sapiens touch in the Future?
It's true that this mechanoid wave is all just plagiarism of existing Man made creations, but the raw truth is that much of popular entertainment is a stream of knock offs and copy cat trends rather than anything original. A sufficiently sophisticated AI system should be able to spew this stuff out in a flash. Take cinema for instance. Many movie scripts are so banal and formulaic that HAL 9000 could easily do the job.
Maybe hope will lie in a residual yearning for authenticity. Just as we want to see flesh'n'blood people perform in sports rather than robots, the same might apply to the Arts. A new technology is not guaranteed acceptance. Remember how a few years back colourization of old Black and White movies was widely scorned and rejected by the Public. Same goes for the 3D movie craze.

I read recently that by 2027 the Department of Transportation will require car makers to use a new dummy called THOR-05F in crash tests. But why do we need a separate dummy to represent women? Why can't we just identify the current dummies as women?
