For our Canadian readers, Mark will be making a rare appearance on northern telly later this Sunday morning, joining CTV's Evan Solomon on "Question Period", coast to coast at 11am Eastern/8am Pacific.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
~The week began with Hurricane Irma battering the Sunshine State, prompting a special edition of Mark's Song of the Week: "Songs in the Keys of Florida."
~Monday was the fifth anniversary of the attack on US facilities in Benghazi. Steyn looked back at a shameful episode, and the dishonored dead. Later, in a brand new Clubland Q&A live around the planet, he offered some somber thoughts on Monday's other anniversary - September 11th 2001 - the day that, supposedly, everything changed.
~On Tuesday Mark reflected on the official observances of that 9/11 anniversary, and their insufficiency. "The Language of Losing" was our most-read column of the week.
~On Wednesday Steyn kept his midweek date with Tucker Carlson and tried to keep up with the ever expanding list of reasons why Hillary lost. Click below to watch:
As a bonus, Mark offered a reprise of a much-loved Clinton column from a couple of memoirs back: "When Harry Met Hillary."
~There was more Hillary talk on Thursday's John Oakley Show, as well as some thoughts on free speech and safe spaces. Click below to listen:
~On Friday there was another terrorist bombing in London, fortunately bungled, but a reminder of how relevant is the latest book in Steyn's series Tales for our Time: For our current nightly audio adventure, Mark's been reading Joseph Conrad's classic story of a protean terrorist cell in the heart of the west, The Secret Agent. Mark Steyn Club Founding Member Deborah Poore writes:
Mark, Thank you so much. Your intro is so interesting and informative. And listening to you read this wonderful book is a delight. I also don't know where you find the time to do all you do, but we're very grateful to you!
Thank you, Deborah. Mark regards it as a privilege and a pleasure to be able to read the majestic prose of Conrad and our other authors. If you've just joined the Club and are playing catch-up, here are this week's episodes: Part Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen and Sixteen - or click here.
~The weekend began with another video edition of Mark's Mailbox, starting with the matter of whether we're getting too used to terrorism and ending with the question of why the student princes in Heidelberg are now student emirs. Click below to watch:
Mark's Mailbox and The Mark Steyn Show are made possible through the support of members of The Mark Steyn Club, for which we are profoundly grateful. For more on The Mark Steyn Club, see below.
~For our Saturday movie date, Mark recalled a great film set in pre-Irma Martinique - Bogart and Bacall in To Have and Have Not.
