Tune-in later this morning for the next installment of Mark's audio adaptation of his bestselling book America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It. In case you missed it, you may catch up on last week's episode here and older episodes here.
~Mark's brilliant narration of The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie - brilliantly narrated by Mark himself - continues apace. In last night's episode we learned that, during his time in Paris, Hercule Poirot has been re-acquainting himself with a once famous murder case.
A new episode airs this evening. Members of The Mark Steyn Club are invited to log in here to catch-up.
~Speaking of members...
Welcome to our new and returning members from Alabama, Alberta, Arizona, Bedfordshire, British Columbia, Buckinghamshire, California, Colorado, Connecticut, County Durham, Cyprus, Delaware, Denmark, East Sussex, Essex, Estonia, Florida, Georgia, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Inverclyde, Iowa, Kent, Kentucky, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Netherlands, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New South Wales, New York, New Zealand, North Carolina, Ohio, Ontario, Oregon, Oxfordshire, Pennsylvania, Powys, Quebec, Rhode Island, Singapore, South Carolina, South Norfolk, South Yorkshire, Sweden, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Western Australia, West Sussex, Wisconsin, Wyoming and beyond.
William from Pennsylvania has just joined:
Looking forward to my ring side seats, been sitting in the nosebleed section long enough. Do make it a good fight, these seats aren't cheap. Cheers to you chap, and my prayers that you're the last Mann standing!
Alison from Kent has run the numbers:
I've worked out MS Club membership costs about 20% less than the BBC TV licence fee. It is definitely far better entertainment and educational value than the TV licence, plus one has the compensation that one is not subsidising blatant lies.
Mary from North Carolina has also renewed:
Thank you, Mark, for keeping us encouraged through your intellect and giving us a laugh via your wit.
Thank you, William, Alison and Mary! As Mark noted the other day:
...as the control-freak regulators and the woke billionaires of the Big Social cartel tighten their grip, and the glory days of the wild and free decentralised Internet of yore recede ever further into the past, I want to thank all of you who keep this l'il ol' mom'n'pop website and its various activities as part of your daily routine. It means a lot.
If you are not yet a member or your membership has lapsed, please consider joining today. Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked at SteynOnline:
~ Upon the fiftieth anniversary of a terrible shipwreck, we reprised Mark's thoughts on the song it inspired: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.
~ In Monday's column - our most read article of the week - Mark carefully supported the thesis that "everything is crap".
~ On Armistice Day/ Remembrance Day/ Veterans Day, we had some video poetry (where the big bucks are!) from Mark. Do take a moment to enjoy this beautiful presentation of John McCrae's "In Flanders' Fields", if you haven't already.
~ Mark was back behind the Clubland Q&A microphone on Wednesday fielding questions from Mark Steyn Club members live around the planet. This week's show included Mark's responses to questions from Mark Steyn Club members on psycho ostrich killers in Canada, elections in Ireland and Minnesota, the Constitution of the United States, the future of the United Kingdom's constituent states, songs, poppies and more. Plus, Mark's take on Trump's recent interview with Laura Ingraham on jobs Americans won't "can't do", etc... In case you missed it, here's the action replay.
~ In this week's edition of Laura's Links, Laura Rosen Cohen shared her thoughts on Remembrance Day, the intra-conservative battles in America, and the possible weaning off the trans phenomenon/social contagion among youth.
~ Ten years ago, Islamic terrorists savagely murdered and maimed their way through the Bataclan theatre and surrounds in Paris. On Friday, Mark shared his thoughts on the obligatory ceremonies marking the anniversary as well as his instant reaction from that day. The title says it all: "The Barbarians Are Inside, and There Are No Gates".
~ On this week's episode of Mark Steyn on the Town, Mark enjoyed a salade de fruits with some all-American beefcake. He also marks the centennial of an Australian conductor and swings by the same high school that produced both Ann-Margret and Donald Rumsfeld. Plus Sinatra in the wee small hours. In case you missed it, please log-in here for the replay.
~ As Rick McGinnis is still away attending to some personal health issues, Mark filled in with a mood lightener for an otherwise heavy week. Once described as one of his favourite movies, Eurotrip is a fine example of a low comedy that also "demonstrates a sounder grasp of geopolitical realities than most Hollywood product".
A new week begins later today with Steyn's Song of the Week at Serenade Radio at 5:30pm GMT/ 12:30pm ET.
