Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers among our readers in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere...
Also, a very happy eighth birthday to all of us in The Mark Steyn Club! Welcome to all our new and returning members!
As part of our birthday celebration this week:
~ We had a special presentation in lieu of Steyn's Song of the Week - a sampler of the accompanying melodies for some of our Tales for Our Time. Mark played ninety minutes of great works by composers from all over the map- and along the way Mark explained how he goes about picking out these tunes for our tales.
~ A birthday column in which Mark considered where we've been and where we're going. It was our most read piece of the week.
~ A birthday edition of our Clubland Q&A in which Mark fielded questions from Mark Steyn Club members around the planet. In case you missed it, here's the action replay.
~ A brand new Mark Steyn Show which was filmed live on the Mark Steyn Iberian Cruise with three of our special guests: Sammy Woodhouse and Samantha Smith are not only two of Mark's favourite contributors to the show, but also indomitable survivors of the scourge that afflicts English towns up and down the land - the paedophile rapists protected and enabled by almost every organ of the British state from the Prime Minister's office down. Sammy and Samantha are joined by one of the few London media figures to take any sustained interest in the subject, The Daily Telegraph's Allison Pearson.
Along the way, we also considered the conclave process and the election of a new pope - both in our conclave watch and in this week's edition of Rick's Flicks.
~ Mark's brilliant narration of our latest Tales for Our Time - Jerome K Jerome's Three Men on the Bummel - continued apace. A new episode will air later today.
~ Mark also pondered a rematch of The War of 1812.
~ And, speaking of the deranged dominion, Laura Rosen Cohen considered "the allegedly free world" along with her excellent round-up of links from around the world.
~ Finally, if you missed yesterday's airing of Mark Steyn on the Town at Serenade Radio, the replay is available here for club members. We marked Golden Spike Day, enjoyed songs from Texans and Tuscans, pondered a funny lady's serious turn, and remembered all Frank's tomorrows...
A new week begins later today with Steyn's Song of the Week at Serenade Radio at 5:30pm British Summer Time/ 12:30pm North American Eastern Time.
